Zeetta Networks Set on Expansion with Successful Funding Round

July 25, 2017

Zeetta Networks has carved out a nice niche in the open networking space. Following the vision of providing network operators, cities and the enterprise to meet growing network requirements without boosting OPEX (News - Alert) or CAPEX, it has patented software-defined networking technology capable of making any network future forward.

In earning attention for its software-defined innovation, this week Zeetta Networks garnered nearly $2.1 million in its most recent round of funding let by Bloc Ventures and a number of existing investors. The capital will be directed at expanding the development team and developing a channel strategy for service provider and enterprise market.

Zeetta Networks CEO Vassilis Seferidis explained, “In the last eighteen months we have experienced an incredible success both in terms of technology developments and of commercial traction with paying customers. Now, we want to accelerate our pace and address additional markets and new customers. Our participation to proof-of-concept projects with Tier 1 European Telcos opens up the opportunity to address the fast evolving 5G network operator market whilst we continue commercial deployments in the Enterprise market. The common denominator in both markets is Zeetta’s network virtualization and slicing technology which allows networks to become programmable platforms for an easy deployment of different services over a shared network infrastructure.”

At the close of this round of funding, Zeetta’s 2017 total investment is well over $4 million, drawing from funds provided by IP Group, Breed Reply, Innovate UK and European Commission.

As far as innovation goes, the Zeetta team will dig in to build out NetOS, the firm’s open networking platform and work more tightly with addressing network operator needs with 5G on the horizon.

David Leftley, Managing Partner of Bloc Ventures, specializing in Data, Cloud, Security and Connectivity tech start-up investment said: “We have known the Zeetta team since they spun out from the University of Bristol and we were looking for the opportunity to invest in the team and their technology. We have been impressed with both the technical and commercial progress achieved to date by the company and we are very excited to participate in this funding round to accelerate the company’s development.”

The future is open and software defined. Whether or not the IoT reaches its full potential, the strain on the network will be like nothing the industry has seen, couple that traffic with the influx of 5G and these much hyped technology realms create an exciting opportunity for open networking technology and network operators.
